Australasian Symposium on Ultrasound and Regional Anaesthesia (ASURA)
Looking to the future...
Welcome Address
Welcome to the Australasian Symposium on Ultrasound and Regional Anaesthesia (ASURA) 2008, the first major CME organised by the Regional Anaesthesia Special Interest Group (RA SIG) of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) and the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA) . The symposium will comprehensively cover major aspects of the use of ultrasound for regional anaesthesia. To broaden the content of the meeting, about one quarter of the content will cover other uses of ultrasound in anaesthesia. A significant component of this meeting will consist of hands-on workshops facilitated by experienced practitioners. As ultrasound becomes more widely used to assist our regional anaesthesia practice and in particular peripheral nerve blockade, educational demand is increasing. ASURA 2008 has been organised to meet this educational demand. To compliment the scientific programme, a social programme is being organised on Friday and Saturday evenings.
From the ASURA 2008 organising team.
